As a senior user researcher and member of our Seattle-based Customer Experience team, you will have a significant impact on our business, driving the research direction for Amazon S3. Amazon S3 is object storage built to store and retrieve any amount of data from anywhere by brands like Netflix, airbnb, GE healthcare, and FINRA for web sites and mobile apps, corporate applications, and data from IoT sensors or devices. Collaboration and product ownership is essential, requiring you to be a great communicator, and successfully present and align with a variety of stakeholders. Additionally, you must be able to work with ambiguity and deliver designs that elevate the AWS customer experience as a whole.

In this role you will develop and execute a strategic program of research in support of our growing S3 product team. You will work collaboratively with a cross-functional team of product managers, UX designers and engineers to explore, create and understand ways in which we can help our Enterprise customers accelerate their digital transformations. You will work closely with customers building sophisticated solutions to learn how our services are meeting their needs.

You will be responsible for driving and implementing research strategies. You will interact daily with team members to understand and guide research needs (known and unknown). You will also be required to work with minimal direction and be capable of working quickly while delivering high-quality outputs. You will work on overlapping projects, which require the ability to multi-task and juggle various priorities. The right candidate will have a deep understanding of user research methods and best practices, and also, a nimble, creative and pragmatic approach, while pushing the boundaries of agile research.

You will take opportunities and work with internal sales leaders and cross-domain functional teams (e.g., Storage, Networking, Identity etc.) to gain further insights in order to develop our EC2 products and new initiatives globally.

You will:
· Define and execute a comprehensive research plan.
· Communicate results and opportunities in clear, concise, and compelling ways to all team members and all levels of management.
· Identify best method or mix of quantitative and qualitative methods based on priorities, research questions, timeline and resourcing.
· Build and continuously improve a robust and thoughtful approach to gather customer insights and collaborate with other research teams in Amazon to align on best practice.
· Create a deep understanding and empathy for our customers across diverse audiences, including senior leaders in Enterprise organizations, engineers, designers, service owners.
· Design, conduct, and analyze results from a variety of research studies including usability lab studies, remote research, field studies and survey design.
· Translate data and insights into strategy and design direction.
· Recruit and schedule usability participants for research studies.

Basic Qualifications

· 7+ years proven success leading User Research projects with demonstrated impact.
· 5+ years of end-to-end experience with all aspects of research (study design, test creation, recruiting, moderation, analysis, reporting)
· 5+ years of hands-on experience with: field research, ethnography, lab-based user testing, remote testing, paper prototype testing, iterative prototype testing, concept testing, and survey design
· 3+ years working in a highly agile/scrum environment.
· BS in HCDE, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, or similar experience.

Preferred Qualifications

· MS or Ph.D. in Human Factors, HCDE, Cognitive Psychology or similar.
· A portfolio demonstrating past work experience and deliverables (eg: study plans, reports, personas)
· Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills; the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization
· An unfailing passion and capacity to advocate on behalf of our users.
· Ability to work in a start-up environment.
· User research or other experience from a technical field, such as software development, systems management or similar.
· Multi-lingual
· Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
· Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity
