As the world’s largest audio streaming subscription service, Spotify Premium enables millions of creatives to make a living from their art by connecting them with the people who love it. Research & Development deep dives into user behaviour to create a more valuable and meaningful experience for subscribers. It’s here that you’ll grow our audience and our platform, working with many disciplines across many locations to build innovative and tech-powered product solutions.
We are looking for a talented Senior Product Designer, with a solid foundation in user research, to join our Premium team in New York. Spotify Premium is the world’s largest audio-anchored subscription business, reaching over 100M users globally. We’re looking for an ambitious designer to join a team leading efforts to further expand our customer offering for Spotify Premium, and help us deliver a best-in-class Premium experience to the world’s music fans. What does the music landscape look like in 2023? How will people listen to music in a world of voice controlled UI, autonomous cars and AR? With a focus on innovation projects, you will be part of a small, agile, and constantly evolving team, working to identify and execute upon growth opportunities that meet our ambitious commercial and user experience goals.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead design projects across the entire product lifecycle, from concept through to launchResearch user behavior, validate concepts with end users, and turn insights into value-adding features and actionable deliverables.
  • Deliver compelling insights to help drive evidence-based product and design decisions.
  • Work with a small, nimble multi-disciplinary team. You’ll partner closely with engineering, product, and business folks to find elegant but practical solutions to design challenges.
  • You’ll provide the thought leadership to develop the right product strategy.
  • Work with sketches, wireframes, and prototypes to communicate with stakeholders, validate concepts and hypotheses with our end users, understanding when deeper exploration is warranted, and when it is best to change paths and try another approach.
  • Work from our offices in New York, with some travel to other Spotify office locations.

Who You Are

  • You have at least 6 years of experience designing at consumer-focused tech or media companies.
  • You’ve shipped many consumer products over the years, and understand what it takes to create awesome, consumer-oriented experiences.
  • You know how to understand and tackle loosely defined problems and come up with relevant answers and actionable insights.
  • You are comfortable with planning, scoping, conducting, analyzing, and communicating research, and turning the output into data that can drive informed product design decisions.
  • A great communicator and storyteller, you have the communication skills to help set up frameworks and brainstorm initial design concepts. You also have the ability to mentor others to deliver work, and make strategy come to life.
  • You have an online portfolio or PDF that you can share with us. Applications without a portfolio are unlikely to be considered.
