Amazon is seeking a talented Principal UX designer to design the user experience of a new strategic initiative. This role will require someone who can take initiative and produce results while collaborating effectively across multiple talented teams.

This is an early stage initiative with a highly collaborative, startup-like environment inside Amazon. To be successful you need to be flexible and entrepreneurial. You are a true owner - you are obsessed about the customer and drive relentlessly to optimize and improve the customer experience. You collaborate with product managers, program managers, software developers, and partner teams. You are comfortable with a degree of ambiguity and willing to develop thoughtful ideas for stakeholders to build upon, iterate and improve.

· Turn business requirements, cross-team requirements, market research, and customer feedback to formulate design and product feature approaches.

· Collaborate with UX designers, Product Managers, and other stakeholders across multiple partner teams.

· Develop and nurture relationships across teams and disciplines to promote collaboration and efficiency.

· Develop and maintain detailed design patterns that scale for your team and influence other designers.

· Understand and respond to data, using that to inform future design.

Basic Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience.
· 7+ years of experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, information architect, or similar role.
· An online portfolio or samples of work demonstrating experience creating user-centered design solutions.
· Experience working in a collaborative team, publicly white-boarding, and working directly with developers for implementation of designs.
· 5+ years of experience independently driving the design review cycle and closing on design requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience driving viable UX frameworks and product architectures in highly ambiguous situations
· Experience designing, guiding, and/or implementing formal and informal usability studies.
· Demonstrated ability to deliver large scale strategic design initiatives with a bias toward scalable systems and patterns.
· Experience designing mobile web, and/or on-device mobile applications.
· Visual design expertise demonstrated through mockups and style guides.
· Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
· Success delivering products/services in a high-growth environment, exhibiting strong ability to identify and solve ambiguous customer-focused problems.
· Proven track record for partnering closely with other teams to influence positive outcomes and propose well-informed new directions.
· Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work successfully with teams across the organization, including Engineering, Product Management, and Senior Leadership.
