The Product Design Manager will play a critical role in the UX team, managing the UX team’s delivery of high quality design practices. The Product Design Manager will coach and support a team of 8-10 Product Designers to do their very best work and grow their skills. This position will also collaborate closely with product management, design operations and UX research to ensure product design delivery for agile teams is functioning well. 

How you will make an impact:

  • Coaches and manages performance of product design team.
  • Stays abreast of new practices and approaches to ensure high quality design execution on the team.
  • Defines, communicates and leads the design delivery approach for agile.
  • Coordinates key team practices such as design critiques and runway planning.
  • Authors and interprets team standards of practice in close partnership with UX leads.
  • Defines and implements a career paths for product designers in collaboration with the UX director and UX leads.
  • Engages with stakeholders, product managers, engineers, content strategists, and other designers to ensure designers are effective across the UX lifecycle.
  • Manages staff’s effective delivery and embedding of UX practices into the organization.
  • Fosters development of direct reports through ongoing coaching and feedback on performance.
  • Works with the Director of UX to continually evolve and standardize UX practices for the highest impact.
  • Contributes to a thriving UX team with a strong growth mindset and appreciation for peer feedback.

What we look for:

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a management or supervisory capacity.
  • Bachelor’s degree in UX, Design or related field required, Master’s degree preferred.
  • Ability to function, adapt, and succeed in a constantly changing environment.
  • Knowledge of best practices for UX teams.
  • Understanding of best practices in UX as it applies across multiple digital platforms.
  • Knowledge of how to design, build, and experiment with potential solutions to user-impacting problems.
  • Understanding of the tools and resources each team member needs to deliver effective UX design.
  • Experience leading a team of designers to deliver consistent, high-quality product design.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent UX initiatives and work streams.
  • Experience mentoring product designers and shaping best practice thinking.
  • Background in leading UX design practices effectively within a complex organization.
