The Team
We are the Fulfillment/Logistics department, responsible for developing cutting-edge technology applied to the operation. We manage the logistics of the company applying technical and business knowledge. Some of our ongoing projects are:-Courier (offer) spatial and temporal distribution. -Demand in-app guidance.-Order matching (assignment) and bundling. -Vehicle routing. -Operation simulation.-Predictions (ETAs, transportation routes, forecasting, preparation times).-Geographical clustering.-Delivery Pricing
You will be working alongside back and front-end developers (full-stack as well), operations researchers, data scientists, machine learning engineers, analytics consultants and product owners. We strive for operational excellence and work with elevated volumes of data, using descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics. Our problems are highly challenging, as we are constantly making decisions over hundreds of thousands of real-time variables. We are a core department, enabling Rappi as a SuperApp in LatAm.
The Position
We are looking for a Product Manager to help us build the logistics system and platforms around it, specifically dedicated to the dispatch system. You’ll work closely with the operation and our product teams as well as our leadership teams to define what is the future of our operation and build the plan to get there . Our ideal Product Manager has experience in logistics (ideally in dispatch systems), has managed technical products or large-scale platforms, has an extreme attention to detail, can concisely communicate complex concepts, and is equally excited about 99.9999% reliability.Dispatch (shopper-courier-order matching) sits at the core of Rappi’s technology and business. In this role, you will be responsible for answering questions such as:-How should we pair couriers with orders?-How do we ensure the best possible outcome for the overall network?-How do we measure appropriately the health of the network?-How do we define which are the main specific characteristics of the order that should be critical for the assignment methodology?

What you'll do...

  • Identifying the main pain points in the network and define the problem properly so that we can design solutions for them
  • Building engineering systems together with statistical forecasting structures for predicting the near-term state of supply and demand - these systems inform many variations of dispatching and routing decisions
  • Leading the team that develops every component of our real-time dispatching assignment and routing optimization systems, including data pipelines, algorithms, engineering, and the different stakeholders’ experiences
  • Innovating brand new products or improving existing ones through the application of optimization, simulation and experimentation technologies to improve service, increase couriers productivity and reach optimal approaches for the network
  • Identifying metrics and building data-focused solutions to quantify the health of our network and how our logistics optimization decisions affect that level of optimality
  • Continually designing and improving the user experience surrounding all dispatching and routing based interactions for both couriers, users and partners
  • Design experiments to understand the impact of each of the features we develop

In addition to the standard set of PM skills, this role specifically requires:

  • Computer science degree or experience as a software engineer or engineering-oriented data scientist is strongly preferred
  • Experience in network modeling and a keen eye for the user experience to understand how dispatching decisions affect the decision making process for couriers, partners and users, as well as how it connects to overall network optimization
  • Foundational statistics experience and knowledge - you will be working with a lot of data
  • Foundational understanding of or desire to learn how economic theory connects to the dispatching problems in the entirety of the marketplace
