We are looking for a Product Manager that will join our Media Transcoding team. You will own and drive the short, medium and long term vision and execution for Media Transcoding at Spotify. You and your team, consisting of Backend Engineers, are fundamental contributors when it comes to the way the world experience & values Spotify. 

What You'll Do

  • Think big! We are a global company and our 300M+ user base is growing by the minute. You will be fundamental in making sure that our content is produced in a timely fashion to fit any platform we’re available on
  • Making sure we reach our business goals without sacrificing user experience by harnessing the power of the hardworking team building extraordinary media transcoding solutions
  • Provide strategic expertise on related industry and competitor developments
  • Be at the forefront of emerging technologies and assess how they can be used to further enhance the quality of the catalog
  • Drive a multi talented team to deliver like clockwork with ever increasing quality
  • Continuously evaluate performance to drive improvements and iterations on the platform
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams and partners across the whole organisation
  • Monitor, summarise, and report feedback from the user base, as well as from the media industry

Who You Are

  • You have a deep understanding of how several modern media formats are composed how to best put them to use
  • Understand how to use modern cloud technologies to enhance both quality and turnaround time for content
  • Comfortable participating in the architecture/technical decisions made in the team, requiring you to have in depth knowledge about such mechanisms
  • Can translate your and your team’s knowledge and experience to use-cases and prioritised work. This will pave the way for other teams at Spotify to excel when building content experiences that relies on your content
  • You have shown experience managing and developing business critical systems – including defining product roadmaps and long-term plans
  • You get stuff done! As demonstrated by working as a product manager, or similar, in high performing teams that have built and deployed large scale applications and services
