Are you the visionary product leader to build a major new Amazon business? Amazon Shop Local is a new selling model where local retailers can list and sell their selection on Amazon inside the local markets they serve. Launched in 2018, we are now expanding this business broadly, and it is dependent on innovations from this newly formed Principal Product Manager role.

The Principal Product Manager is part of the Shop Local leadership team. You will interact closely with senior leaders across internal (technology, business, marketing, sales, BD) and external (brands and retailers) teams and will guide an early-stage business through go-to-market strategy, long-term product development, building end-to-end Customer experiences, and assessment of requirements for scaling across 1,000’s of local retailers. You will be joining a fast growing, quickly evolving organization, where the ability to wear many hats across projects will be crucial. You will be expected to inspire new Seller and Customer experiences, think and act both strategically and tactically - from defining the vision for entirely new selling models on Amazon, to overseeing the creation, execution, and partnership required to build the world’s greatest local selling business. You will be a role model for boundary-less collaboration, working hand-in-hand with many internal and external stakeholders to translate market insight into features and roadmaps. You are passionate about understanding your Customers (retailers and Amazon Customers) and finding ways to empower and simplify their experiences on Amazon.

The ideal candidate is a self-starting owner who can define the Customer and Seller vision, staying close to the details. They are passionate about delivering both large scale new technologies, but also staying well-informed around feature sets and simplifications within tools existing in the current business. They will be known for building partnerships across internal teams, but also working closely with Customers to understand pain points that need solved. They will have a demonstrated ability to bring go-to-market solutions live in technical and non-technical environments, and can think both from a strategic and scrappy perspective, with scaled results as an outcome. Moreover, the successful candidate will have a broad view of the entire landscape, including competitive landscapes, and will be passionate about delivering products that Customers may not even know they need yet.

As Principal Product Manager for Shop Local your key responsibilities will include:
· Defining go-to-market propositions for targeted categories and selling models, and being accountable for their overall success, including the adoption goals, technical implementations, and outputs of the strategies (revenue, profit)
· Building the innovations needed to deliver the long-term vision for this business, while also staying focused on near-term opportunities inside existing product.
· Supporting marketing, sales, BD, and account management teams in building core requirements across those teams.
· Establishing customer and retailer feedback loops to synthesize feedback and consolidate feature requests, providing category/industry specific requirements to engineering/platform PM, and driving follow-up actions and communications.
· Measuring the effectiveness of the products we build and consistently improving them through consistent innovation.
· Leading a test-and-learn environment that leads to solutions that drive efficiencies and scale across all business teams and partners.
· Raising the standards to achieve a best-in-class feature set for Retail partners.
· Assessing, proposing and implementing new Customer innovations across Amazon teams that are impactful at a local level.
· Working closely with technical product management and engineering teams to ensure timely delivery of roadmap.
· Developing insight-driven narratives with sound recommendations.
· Building strong relationships with other Amazon Leaders.

Basic Qualifications


· Bachelor’s degree required or work experience in category or product management for 10 years
· Proven track record of managing and executing large projects from start to finish, including project management, data gathering and modeling, problem solving, and communicating recommendations
· High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
· Extremely strong written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to work effectively with tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

· MBA or equivalent degree
· Experience with business systems and track record of building successful end-to-end product solutions for Customers
· Demonstrated ability to anticipate and manage change in a highly dynamic environment
· Demonstrated ability to work in ambiguous situations and across organizational boundaries
