Blink is looking for a Senior Mixed Methods UX Researcher to add to our San Diego team. In this role, you will apply a wide range of quantitative and qualitative research methods to address our clients’ research questions and challenges. We are looking for an individual with prior internal or external business consulting experience who has a track record of delivering compelling research findings and recommendations.
Note: You will also be asked to share a presentation of 2-3 work samples in the interview process.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct foundational and evaluative research for Blink clients as part of cross-functional team.
  • Plan and execute survey research or other quantitative methods.
  • Plan and moderate qualitative research such as usability lab studies, remote interviews, and field studies.
  • Analyze research findings and prepare high-impact reports and presentations for clients.
  • Integrate quantitative and qualitative research insights.
  • Recommend design changes or solutions based on research evidence and design best practice.
  • Advocate for users while understanding the business goals of clients.
  • Act as a mixed-methods thought leader within Blink.
  • Contribute to Blink UX research and design practices through writing/thought leadership, internal projects, and collaborating with peers.
  • Participate in business development efforts as a mixed methods subject matter expert. Meet with client stakeholders to help clarify research objectives and propose specific methods, tools and approaches.

Job Qualifications

  • Formal education in a relevant field such as human-centered design, cognitive psychology, market research, survey research, information science or equivalent hands-on experience to demonstrate an understanding of quantitative survey techniques as well as UX research theory, methods, and practices.
  • 8-10 years of experience designing and conducting a range of UX research activities. 
  • Demonstrated expertise in planning and executing survey research in conjunction with qualitative UX research.
  • Ability to propose appropriate quantitative survey and analysis approaches to fit client research questions.
  • Expert survey question writer and builder.
  • Ability to program complex surveys or review programming for quality when outsourced.
  • Knowledge of 3rd party national and international research panels and how to discern which panel is best for each project based on its requirements.
  • Ability to employ methods and analyze data to include (must have experience in several of these): Applied inferential statistics (means testing, ANOVA, etc.), Segmentation and cluster analysis, MaxDiff, Kano Analysis, Factor Analysis, Crosstab reports, Open-ended text analysis, (Nice to have) Conjoint analysis
  • Knowledge and experience using industry standard tools such as Qualtrics, SurveyGizmo, SPSS, R, SAS, MATLAB, Python, or Jupyter notebooks
  • Excellent presentation and written communication skills.
  • Experience working directly with clients in a consulting role, including leading client meetings.
  • Proven ability to communicate recommended design solutions for observed UX issues.
  • Ability to visualize quantitative and qualitative research results in compelling ways.
  • A high comfort level with computer hardware and software.
  • Working knowledge of video editing techniques.
  • Working knowledge of user research tool(s), design best practice, and UX research methodologies.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced consulting environment.
  • UX design experience is a plus.
