The role of the Product Designer for the Core Database is based on the knowledge and design of User Interfaces and User Experience (UI/UX), but in a more abstract and NON-graphical approach.
As part of the product team, you will design the surface of the Neo4j database in terms of:
The definition and description of internal procedures and functions
The definition and description of the public API for embedded applications and plugins
The definition and description of the client/server API for the supported connectors and languages (HTTP, Java, JavaScript, Python, .NET and GO)
The Cypher syntax and commands for data definition and data manipulation (DDL/DML), together with the Cypher Language team and external bodies.
The Cypher syntax and commands for the administration of the Neo4j DBMS.

What you will do -

  • Design the surface of the core database, based on strategy and company vision, customer requests, developers and devops experience.
  • Develop high-level definition of journeys for different personas: DBAs, power users, data scientists, developers for client/server and for embedded applications.
  • Manage an iterative design lifecycle, from the collection of requirements, theoretical design, POC, EAP and final release.
  • Interact with Product Managers to understand the Product roadmap, capture the high level requirements for the product.
  • Interact with customers, users, Field and Support engineers to collect information, analyse issues and validate the proposed surface.
  • Interact with Community users, standard bodies and owners of the Cypher language to analyse and validate consistency in other areas of the product.
  • Interact with other Product Designers to deliver a cohesive User Interface and User Experience.
  • Interact with Product Architects to validate the feasibility of the surface with the architecture of the core database.
  • Interact with Product Engineering to move from the definition of the surface to the actual implementation.

Knowledge of DBMSs, particularly RDBMS and Graph DBMS: having worked as DBA, Devops and/or on applications that required complex setting of DBMSs for at least five yearsAt least five years of programming experience in Java, Go or C/C++Preferred extra Skills:Experience in a devops position on Linux infrastructure is considered an advantageTwo or more years of experience in a similar position, as non-graphical UX design, is considered a significant advantageOpinionated,  comfortable,  and experienced in applying modern design idioms and frameworks; jobs-to-be-done, design thinking and others
