Technical Product Manager (TPM)

The Opportunity
Springboard’s product has evolved significantly over the last 4 years, with the steady addition of features that give our students all they need to succeed in our courses — and beyond, in the workplace. We’re now looking for an experienced, visionary, engineering manager with strong frontend expertise to manage a part of the Growth engineering team that builds, designs, implements and maintains critical services across the entire marketing funnel (user acquisition / organic growth > applications > sales and admissions > enrolments). 

Responsibilities

• Uncover and understand customer needs -  partner with other teams in the organization to understand pain points, upcoming product roadmaps, challenges and build an effective backlog of activities.
• Translate the engineering roadmap for Infrastructure Platform and Architecture into detailed requirements.
• Define the scope and success criteria for projects
• Prioritize initiatives by getting to the crux of the problem/value, make accurate trade-offs, and articulate them clearly.
• Assess and address technical risks.
• Collaborate with the technical team to prototype, build, and launch projects (and ensure alignment of the output with expectations).
• Keep stakeholders and teams informed on progress through standups, reports, and presentations.
• Manage changes introduced due to the new features and updates, keep stakeholders informed on what to expect, share sufficient information in a timely manner, address incoming questions and concerns
• Drive efforts for training and documentation
• Contribute to the engineering roadmap - Stay updated on competitors and technical trends to assess emerging products and make recommendations on which new technologies to invest in or leverage.

You have

• 1+ years of experience in product management and 5 years of hands-on experience in software development
• Experience working in high-performance software company esp. in startups or startup-like environment, preferable
• Experience working closely with engineering and other business teams 
• Extensive architectural experience (such as Domain Driven Design, GraphQL, Microservices etc.); understanding of scalable systems and distributed computing, DevOps, cloud infrastructure (preferably GCP), security, engineering best practices
• High empathy and ability to appreciate constraints, impact while also being able to balance with what is important for the organization
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, to drive consensus, work with varied stakeholders, and articulate trade-offs
• Passionate about improving education and seriously committed to helping build an organization from the ground up, even if things aren’t always easy
