Medallia’s mission is to help companies win through customer experience. The world’s best-loved brands trust Medallia’s Experience Cloud™, which embeds the pulse of the customer in an organization and empowers employees with the real-time customer data, insights, and tools they need to make every experience great. Named a leader in the most recent Forrester Wave and ranked in the 2018 Forbes Cloud 100 list, Medallia is growing quickly, with a global footprint that spans Silicon Valley, Austin, New York, Washington DC, London, Paris, Sydney, Buenos Aires, Tel Aviv, and Prague. Here, we value people for each of the aspects that make them whole. We believe that people should not be defined only by a job title—nobody is "just an engineer" or "just a salesperson." We are each partners, parents, children, siblings, friends, and former classmates. We have different backgrounds and we celebrate different cultures. And, just like our product, we honor each of the experiences that build our people.
At Medallia we hire the whole person, not just a part of them.
As a Scrum master you will be joining our Midmarket organization and working with teams across multiple customer experience products. You will help teams develop and refine their agile processes and practices with an eye towards improving efficiency, velocity, and team satisfaction. You’ll help teach novice agile developers best practices, and coach groups of individual contributors into agile teams, all in service of modernizing and streamlining the engineering culture at Medallia.  You’ll work with our product and development teams to discover new ways to capitalize on business opportunities in the customer experience space.
We are looking for a Scrum Master whose role requires the ability to lead a team to self-organization, bring disclosure and transparency to the business about development, and grow business trust. As a Scrum Master you will be responsible for monitoring the scrum processes, increasing team efficiency, motivating the team, and ensuring observance of the Definition of Done.

Key responsibilities:

  • Removing obstacles of the team or guiding the team to remove them
  • Facilitating getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work
  • Assisting with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information
  • Providing support to the team using a servant leadership style whenever possible, and leading by example
  • Taking responsibility for team health and psychological safety

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of numerous well documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach
  • Good skills and knowledge of facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
  • Experience playing the Scrum Master role for at least three years for a software development team that was diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory
  • Knowledge and/or experience with Agile techniques: User Stories, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Automated Testing, and Modern Agile
  • A Modern Agile mindset and team player
  • Scrum Master Certification would be a plus

The ideal candidate is also:

  • Passionate about technology and process development; knowledgable about Modern Agile principles
  • Is able to ensure Agile/Scrum concepts and principles are adhered to, is a voice of reason and authority, and can make the tough calls
  • Continually growing one’s craft, learning new tools and techniques to manage oneself and a team
  • Is pragmatic: gets things done, can facilitate creative compromises between an ideal technical solution and actual client needs
  • Understands the value of testing, quality, continuous integration, source control, code reviews, and automation
  • Possesses excellent communication, organization, and mentoring skills
At Medallia, we don’t just accept difference—we celebrate it and recognize the value it brings to our customers and employees.
