As a Design Researcher, you'll be developing and refining your core skills by taking ownership of projects and leading research activities. You'll run research with product teams and be learning from more experienced researchers. You'll confidently take on simple or evaluative studies and will be building more solid skills in complex and generative research. What you’ll do

  • Conduct design research - lead small to large evaluative studies, straight forward generative studies, and contribute to more complex generative studies with support from more experienced researchers
  • Plan research studies - run the logistics of a research study from recruitment, scheduling, and organizing note takers and observers
  • Run research studies - utilize a variety of methods for a variety of purposes (e.g. surveys, diary studies, unmoderated tests, etc.)
  • Analyze data from research studies - synthesize and make sense of the data, translating it into comprehensible and significant finding and insights for the team to engage with
  • Facilitate research sessions - run professional sessions to maximize unbiased observations while ensuring comfort of the participant and ethical practices
  • Close out projects - follow all relevant close out processes including sharing results, ensuring data obligations are met, and reflecting on the projects
  • Work with cross functional teams - be a key contributor and define research objectives and outcomes, build influence for the user perspective, and participate in activities to improve UX understanding and capabilities within pods
  • Practice improvement - identify ways to improve our research practice, work with other researchers to drive initiatives, test ideas, share challenges, and build the quality of our practice
  • Demonstrate leadership - we believe leadership is a part of everyone's role, ensuring that you're emulating Xero's values and the values of the research team

Success looks like

  • You deliver quality research on schedule against set deadlines
  • You collaborate and contribute to the design, product, and development teams you work with
  • You actively participate in practice and growth activities within the research team
  • You challenge our teams to think differently and lean into debates and constructive conversations with honesty and trust
  • You effectively communicate and present research to a range of different audiences
  • You connect insights from your studies to previous research studies including those across portfolios, product data, voice of the customer / marketing research, support tickets, and other reliable sources of information

What you’ll bring with you

  • Track record of delivering quality design research
  • Track record of working with multi-disciplinary teams to achieve research goals
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A portfolio that demonstrates high-quality research, contributing to user experience and business value
