The Kindle Design Studio is seeking a talented, creative, and customer-obsessed Senior User Experience designer to join our team.

A day in the life
Love creating high-bar, high-visibility UX and UI for mobile apps? Interested in the unique challenges and opportunities of designing for our Kindle E-reader devices? We offer a creative and ownership-centric work environment where you’ll be driving a key part of the core Kindle experience as you help Kindle deliver on the promise of making every book in every language available on demand, everywhere customers want to read.

You are strategic and highly collaborative and will work closely with a team of passionate designers, user researchers, product managers, and software developers to create the interaction flows, visual style, and assets for new and existing applications and experiences.

Job responsibilities
· Create end to end CX for our reading customers expanding the vision of how people interact with Kindle
· Participating in the design of useful, usable, and desirable user interfaces in a team environment
· Work with the Kindle Design leadership to set design vision and direction for Kindle-based reading experiences
· Partner with product management and development, championing the creation of user-centered designs by considering market analysis, customer feedback, professional expertise, metrics, and usability findings
· Develop and manage the development of conceptual diagrams, wireframes, visual mockups, click-throughs, and prototypes
· Present design work to the Kindle design team, product stakeholders, and Amazon executives for review and feedback

Note: we are open to someone either relocating to Seattle to be co-located with our team or working virtually with frequent trips to Seattle.

Basic Qualifications

· 8+ years of professional experience as a UX designer or interaction designer.
· An online portfolio or samples of work on resume, demonstrating experience creating great end-to-end, user-centered design solutions and patterns, across desktop and mobile devices.
· Bachelor's degree in Design, Human Computer Interaction (HCI), or similar, or equivalent professional experience
· A strong track record of iterative design, working closely with customers, business partners, and developers throughout the entire product lifecycle
· Demonstrated ability to drive the design review cycle and lead closure on design requirements
· Deep experience in web and native apps and mobile-first design approaches

Preferred Qualifications

· Demonstrated ability as a visual designer
· Ability to prototype in Flinto, Framer and/or HTML, JavaScript, and CSS
· Familiarity with common design patterns for Android and iOS
· Experience designing UX that bridges multiple platforms, including: mobile apps, web-based applications, and desktop apps
· Past experience in designing and launching new v1 consumer products in new markets
· Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
· A sense of humor, pride in your work, and the ability to gracefully give and receive feedback
· A passion for books and reading
