How you’ll make an impact
As a Product Owner within the Digital team you will be working with a talented development team and responsible for executing on our vision and roadmap by creating and delivering innovative solutions that solve real world customer problems.

What you’ll do

  • Every day all over the world people love to do their business on Xero. You’ll be an integral part of a broader product team that’s focussed on defining and developing solutions which deliver value to small businesses and their connections.
  • You’ll work with a delivery team who will look to you for guidance and support every day to build the best digital experience for our customers (current and prospective) love to use. As a passionate and skilled product person you’ll enjoy working with other product people, including product managers, product owners, designers, researchers, analysts and delivery teams including team facilitators, developers and QAs. You’ll work closely with other teams from the wider business, such as support, product, training and sales, who help bring your solutions to market - and be used by millions of people every day.
  • You’ll use all your product skills and hone new ones. Your product backlog will be like your dress sense and sense of humour; impeccable with perfect timing. You’ll be passionate about understanding customer pain points and use your prioritisation skills to make the right call on what’s needed to be addressed and when. You’ll use your great research, data analysis and decision-making skills to juggle the wide range of enhancements and bug fixes that will come your way. 

Success looks like

  • You’ll relay a clear vision of the aims and aspirations of the problems to be solved and customer value to be provided in the product to the delivery teams; who will rely on you every day for this guidance and leadership as they develop the solutions.
  • You’ll determine the minimum loveable product feature set that will solve defined problems for our customers and ensure every digital interaction with Xero is meaningful.
  • You’ll work closely with your manager, who’ll support you to be successful and help you build up any new skills you need.
  • You will have a deep understanding of Xero’s mission, digital strategy and roadmap; you’ll use this to create and maintain your product backlog and guide the delivery team in the solutions they create for our customers and prospects.You will define a product backlog that focuses on achieving agreed initiatives from the roadmap, and you will be able to guide and focus the delivery team on what problems need to be solved as priorities and why. You’ll work with UX, design, optimisation and data teams, internal customers like customer experience, sales, education as well as  external customers to help shape the desired solutions that will delight our customers and help them achieve their goals.You’ll ensure that user stories stay true to and accurately reflect the what, why and for who you’ve defined.You’ll keep your product backlog up to date and prioritised, working with the delivery team for estimation as needed.
  • You’ll work with the delivery team to ensure the solutions being developed are delivered on time and realise the vision, roadmap and the customer value it was intended to.

What you’ll bring with you:

  • At least 3 years experience in software development in a comparable product role
  • Building software for the internet, preferably with a SaaS background
  • Hands on experience with agile processes and principles
  • Experience with digital desired but not a must
  • Passion for small business and creating beautiful products that solve real customer problems 
  • Open and effective communication styleAbility to build effective relationships across all levels of the business
  • Team player with a “Can-do” attitude
