Amazon's Device and Services Design Group is a central design studio responsible for developing products and platforms from the Echo, to Alexa Communications, and Fire TV and tablet. We are looking for a senior design leader to help envision and execute best-in-class multi-modal, visual, and voice forward experiences with a multi-disciplinary design team, and working strategically with our business and engineering partners to bring new products to market.

As a UX Design Manager, you are a player-coach who can deliver through hands-on design and be a leader who can steward design and partner team through the product design and development cycle. You are a customer-focused, design-thinking, creative leader who has successfully designed and delivered consumer products at broad scale. With your strong design, business, and technology fluency, you’re able to think big and while staying connected to the details and execution. A tireless advocate for design excellence with the ability to collaborate with other teams and stakeholders, you thrive in using your designs to show others what good looks like and help others be successful in their work.

Responsibilities:
· Manage a team of UX designers to design and iterate on UI architecture, interface, and interaction flow of applications and experiences
· Define and drive the UX vision for multimodal Alexa experiences
· Use business requirements, market research and customer feedback to assist in developing scenarios, use cases, and high-level requirements
· Dive deep on consumer insights, product analytics, and competitive intelligence to drive product innovation and iteration
· Lead brainstorming sessions and design reviews
· Create storyboards, wireframes, visual mockups, click-throughs, and prototypes
· Lead or participate in quick and iterative user research for ideation and concept refinement
· Evangelize concepts and designs to a diverse audience, in both ad-hoc and formal presentations
· Stay on the cutting edge of what’s new in technology and user experience, identifying opportunities to and experimenting with applying new technologies and interaction patterns to customer problems
· Inspire, mentor and develop other designers in the studio
· Write effectively to communicate design rationales and benefits to Amazon customers

Basic Qualifications


· Bachelor's degree in design or equivalent professional experience
· 7+ years of experience designing complex consumer facing digital products and experiences
· 3+ years of experience as a lead/senior creative contributor, or creative director
· A strong portfolio of innovative design work that demonstrates industry-leading design and business success
· Experience leading projects in a collaborative multi-disciplinary team including designers, hardware engineers, writers, product managers and software developers

Preferred Qualifications

· Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
· Experience with leading design thinking and human-centered design process
· Experience working closely with design research, product and engineering partners to deliver products
· Proven ability to drive the design review cycle and close on design requirements independently
· Experience designing for a variety of device types (mobile, desktop, consumer devices, etc.) and designing experiences with multiple interaction modalities
· Fluency in best practices for mobile platforms and system information architecture and design, as well as strong knowledge of usability principles and techniques
· Visual design expertise demonstrated through mockups and style guides
· Proficiency in a variety of design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and Sketch
· Experience in designing interactions for voice led devices
· Experience in designing cross platform experiences
