A day in the life
As the Principal UX Designer on the Project Kuiper team you will help design exceptional user experiences and interfaces for our customer facing products and services to delight our customers across the globe in a variety of customer segments. You will also help the team craft beautiful and compelling internal and external communications material.

About the hiring group
The Kuiper Product team is keenly focused on all the customer facing devices, software, applications and backend systems that will delight our customers and enable us to monetize the capacity of our network. You will be part of a team of savvy Product Managers and will eventually build a UX team as we expand our development efforts.

We are looking for someone customer obsessed and technology savvy with a proven track record of creating exceptional experiences, especially in consumer related products.

As the Principal UX Designer, you will own the UX designs for all of our customer touch points and will work closely with our product, marketing and engineering teams.

· Create world-class UX designs for web and mobile use
· Understand customers and their needs through customer research and feedback
· Use business requirements to assist in developing use cases and high-level requirements
· Design the architecture, interface, and interaction flow of services and experiences
· Develop personas, customer journey maps, conceptual diagrams, wireframes, and prototypes
· Facilitate the design process, present and iterate design solutions
· Assist the team in creating creative and professional web and presentation designs for internal and external communications

Basic Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree or 10 + years of equivalent design experience
· Experience in building and/or leading a UX Team
· 5+ years of experience leading the development of prototypes or wire-frames for web and mobile applications and/or workflows
· Online portfolio demonstrating samples of design deliverables (personas, journey maps, wireframes, and prototypes) is required to apply for this role (Please include link in resume or indication of online portfolio availability)
· 5+ years of experience working in direct collaboration with product managers, developers, and/or stakeholders
· Experience participating in the complete product development lifecycle of successfully launched applications
· At least 3 years of experience in conducting research with cross functional teams.
· Experience in delivering design solutions for projects of large scope and complexity

Preferred Qualifications

· Ability to gracefully handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
· Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills and the ability to gracefully defend your design decisions to executive management
· Experience in best practices for information architecture and design, as well as strong knowledge of usability principles and techniques
· Demonstrated history of acquiring user data (e.g., conducting usability studies, performing user research) and creating personas and journey maps
· Experience with UX design for consumers as well as complex workflows for technical customers
· Experience working in a collaborative team and working directly with developers for implementation of designs
