Principal Product Designer at Checkout.com
As Checkout.com continues to build the next generation of online payment solutions and financial products, the role of Design within the organisation is becoming more critical with each day!
You will lead, scaling and defining the vision for our design language and systems. Alongside your peers, you will define ways of working, culture, and optimise processes across the entire Design organisation.
You are a master of your craft, you are able to guide the wider team to adopt consistent and well-thought guidelines, and evolve the design language across all products and verticals, for multiple mediums and experiences. You will be part of a dedicated design systems team, working alongside all designers and engineers across the organisation to build efficient and supportive governance models. You will mentor other product designers while supporting multiple initiatives.
You will be a Leader across the entire design organisation and you will drive and push for excellence, raising the bar for the entire team.

  • Experience in designing WCAG compliant, accessible interfaces.

What you will be doing

  • Lead the Design Systems initiative and evolve the design language across all products and verticals.
  • Be responsible for the overall quality of all parts of the design system, from discovery to delivery, documentation and principles.
  • Define and improve usage guidelines and documentation across all foundational elements, components, patterns and principles of our design language.
  • Take research insights and user needs and behaviours into consideration to continuously evolve the design language.
  • Define and evolve a contribution model that takes into consideration the wider design organisation.
  • Define and put in places processes regarding governance, collaboration and adoption.
  • Strategically partner with Engineering leads to evolve and push forward the design system.
  • Act as Leader within the Design Team, and help build and define a mature design organisation.
  • Mentor other Designers through all parts of the design process.
  • Support the DesignOps Team to make sure there is a consistent and aligned experience in every product.
